Dr. Eric Fishon is a name that has become synonymous with resilience, leadership, and a commitment to challenging the status quo. My journey has been anything but conventional. I’ve faced countless obstacles, many of which were internal battles that shaped my mission and career. The title “Dr. Disruptor” was not something I chose lightly—it was given to me in the most challenging and transformative way during my doctoral studies. It came as a result of my unwavering advocacy for equity and my refusal to accept systemic injustices. I was told to “stay in my lane” and even asked to leave my doctoral program. But instead of retreating, Dr. Eric Fishon embraced the challenge, taking on the label of “disruptor” with pride, and I vowed to fight for individuals like myself who live with unseen disabilities and are often left behind in society’s progress.
Dr. Eric Fishon never let those words define me. Instead, they became my catalyst for change. The platform that would later bear the name Dr. Disruptor was born out of my quest to break down barriers, challenge outdated systems, and create inclusive spaces for people living with invisible disabilities. Every step of my career, from radio broadcasting to banking tononprofit work, has been guided by a single, overriding principle: to make the world a more equitable place for everyone.
The professional journey of Dr. Eric Fishon spans more than three decades and touches various industries, but throughout all of them, the common thread has been a desire to help others, lead by example, and give a voice to those who are marginalized. I began my career in broadcasting at Cox Radio Long Island, where I hosted an award-winning show called “Plugged In.” It was during this time that my passion for storytelling and communication grew. But there was also a personal struggle taking place. Dr. Eric Fishon had yet to be diagnosed with what I later realized were hidden disabilities—anxiety, ADHD, and chronic fatigue.
Despite facing personal challenges, I found joy and purpose in using my platform to share stories that mattered. The radio show allowed me to connect with people in a meaningful way, and the positive feedback I received from listeners was both humbling and motivating. As I look back, I realize that my experience in broadcasting was my first real introduction to the world of leadership—where influence and the ability to inspire were my most valuable assets.
After my time in radio, Dr. Eric Fishon transitioned into the airline industry, where I worked closely with remarkable teams and had the privilege of learning from visionary leaders like Herb Kelleher, the trailblazing CEO of Southwest Airlines. This experience further solidified my belief in the transformative power of leadership and organizational culture. At Southwest Airlines, I saw firsthand how a strong and inclusive culture could not only elevate business performance but also foster a sense of community and mutual respect.
As my career continued to evolve, Dr. Eric Fishon moved into a new phase, one that saw me dedicate over 20 years at TD Bank. During my tenure, I led marketing and regional strategy efforts that helped create some of the most impactful and localized customer experiences in the banking industry. Under my leadership, TD Bank became known for its commitment to understanding local communities and tailoring services to meet their unique needs.
But it wasn’t just about the numbers or the strategic campaigns. Dr. Eric Fishon recognized the importance of giving back to the community, and I spent much of my time outside the office working to create lasting social impact. This dual commitment to both my corporate and philanthropic roles led me to become deeply involved with nonprofit work, particularly as the President of Long Island Against Domestic Violence. I used my leadership skills to advocate for those who had no voice and worked tirelessly to build programs that provided resources and support to individuals in need.
Throughout my career, Dr. Eric Fishon faced personal challenges that I wasn’t fully aware of until later in life. It wasn’t until the COVID-19 pandemic hit that I was formally diagnosed with chronic fatigue, narcolepsy, and ADHD. These conditions, which had been silently affecting my life for many years, were finally identified as part of a broader pattern of unseen disabilities. It was a revelation that deeply impacted me but also fueled my desire to continue proving that despite these challenges, I could still achieve extraordinary things.
The diagnosis was both a blessing and a challenge. For Dr. Eric Fishon, it meant coming to terms with the fact that my path forward would require more than just personal effort—it would require collaboration and understanding. I could no longer pretend that I could do it all on my own. But I also knew that I would not allow these conditions to define or limit my potential. The discovery of these disabilities deepened my understanding of the challenges faced by others like me, people who deal with hidden conditions and are often left without support or understanding from society.
Despite the hurdles of managing multiple unseen disabilities, Dr. Eric Fishon remained committed to growth and self-improvement. Over the course of my career, I earned numerous advanced degrees: an MBA, MDIV, MBA (again), MTS, and a Graduate Certificate in Biblical Studies and Urban Management. These academic achievements are a testament to my resilience and determination to continue my personal growth despite the challenges I faced. They also reflect my commitment to deepening my understanding of leadership, community development, and social justice.
Earning these degrees was not an easy feat. They were achieved while balancing the demands of my career and personal life, all while managing the toll that chronic fatigue and other conditions took on my body and mind. But for Dr. Eric Fishon, every degree was more than just an academic accomplishment—it was a symbol of my commitment to breaking down personal barriers, just as I’ve worked to dismantle systemic ones.
The platform Dr. Disruptor was born out of these experiences, and it serves as the culmination of everything I’ve learned. Dr. Eric Fishon is more than just a person—it is a movement. A movement dedicated to challenging outdated systems and advocating for the rights of those who are too often overlooked. Dr. Disruptor is about using my story, my struggles, and my triumphs to inspire others to take bold action, to push back against the status quo, and to create spaces where everyone can thrive, regardless of the challenges they face.

One of the core missions of Dr. Disruptor is advocating for those living with unseen disabilities. Dr. Eric Fishon understands firsthand the difficulty of navigating the world with a condition that others cannot see. It is my belief that raising awareness, creating resources, and driving systemic change for individuals facing invisible challenges is not only a moral obligation but a necessity if we are to build a truly equitable society.
At Dr. Disruptor, I believe that emotional intelligence and authentic storytelling are some of the most powerful tools for creating change. Dr. Eric Fishon uses these tools to connect with others, inspire action, and foster a sense of shared purpose. Emotional intelligence allows us to understand one another on a deeper level, while storytelling gives us the ability to bring our experiences to life and create powerful narratives that drive change.
For Dr. Eric Fishon, challenging the status quo is not just a job—it is a mission. The work that I do every day is about questioning the norms, dismantling outdated systems, and ensuring that those who have been excluded are given a seat at the table. Dr. Disruptor is about creating an environment where innovation thrives, inclusion is prioritized, and everyone has the chance to succeed.
The Dr. Disruptor platform is more than just a place to learn—it is a movement for those who believe in the power of change. We firmly believe that the internet should be available and accessible to anyone, and are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of circumstance and ability.
To fulfill this, we aim to adhere as strictly as possible to the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) at the AA level. These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities. Complying with those guidelines helps us ensure that the website is accessible to all people: blind people, people with motor impairments, visual impairment, cognitive disabilities, and more.
This website utilizes various technologies that are meant to make it as accessible as possible at all times. We utilize an accessibility interface that allows persons with specific disabilities to adjust the website’s UI (user interface) and design it to their personal needs.
Additionally, the website utilizes an AI-based application that runs in the background and optimizes its accessibility level constantly. This application remediates the website’s HTML, adapts Its functionality and behavior for screen-readers used by the blind users, and for keyboard functions used by individuals with motor impairments.
If you’ve found a malfunction or have ideas for improvement, we’ll be happy to hear from you. You can reach out to the website’s operators by using the following email
Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various different behavioral changes, to ensure blind users visiting with screen-readers are able to read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s functions. As soon as a user with a screen-reader enters your site, they immediately receive a prompt to enter the Screen-Reader Profile so they can browse and operate your site effectively. Here’s how our website covers some of the most important screen-reader requirements, alongside console screenshots of code examples:
Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups), and others. Additionally, the background process scans all the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology. To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on as soon as they enter the website.
These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.
Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside it.
Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.
We aim to support the widest array of browsers and assistive technologies as possible, so our users can choose the best fitting tools for them, with as few limitations as possible. Therefore, we have worked very hard to be able to support all major systems that comprise over 95% of the user market share including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera and Microsoft Edge, JAWS and NVDA (screen readers).
Despite our very best efforts to allow anybody to adjust the website to their needs. There may still be pages or sections that are not fully accessible, are in the process of becoming accessible, or are lacking an adequate technological solution to make them accessible. Still, we are continually improving our accessibility, adding, updating and improving its options and features, and developing and adopting new technologies. All this is meant to reach the optimal level of accessibility, following technological advancements. For any assistance, please reach out to
